Walking on the city concrete,
I fall into a vision on Front Street
And I see it all in dismal imagery
Sounds and the sights as they hang on over me.
And the faces of all the pedestrians
The strangers I pass that look like friends
There’s a number all allotted to them
Oh the time we have on this rock well spent -
Is it a miracle?
That we’re all around.
In a world so spherical.
That we’re not left here and now.
Now I'm standing at the edge of the ocean.
Heart heavy in the town I grew up in.
And my fears are drowned in the fading blue,
I’m out on the shore reaching out to you.
And right there on the water it hits me,
For every ounce of suffering and mystery,
There’s a child that’s born in a hospital.
A flower that blooms in the freezing cold -
And it’s a miracle,
Of cosmic chance
A goddamn miracle
Held by the hands of no master plan.
In all the highs, and all the lows
The mystery that consumes us whole,
There isn’t a single thing we know
It’s a fucked up show
It’s a Miracle.
But I can’t just let time pass me by
With an aching heart for an alibi
Help me learn to love the air I breathe
The light in the eyes of the irony.
because all in all I have it all
When all I am is a miracle.
This is what I remember emo and pop punk music *sounding* like in the 90s and 2000s, but not what it actually sounded like. basking in the glow is an emotionally mature update of those times, and much appreciated. thepirc
The verse "Can't even buy a coffee without exploiting someone" got me. It really hits hard. For the entire length of the album it felt like the end of the world.
But to be perfectly honest, it's just how life is these days. And it's fucked up. szczur
If you've ever had to Google clumsy phrases to find a word that matched a feeling you could only feebly describe, and you ended up discovering words like hiraeth, sehnsucht, or saudade, The Million Masks of God may be an excellent companion soundtrack to your experience. joel
I got to listen to some of these songs live during Origami Angel's tour in 2022, which was a really cool experience. I loved them enough to buy a CD!!! KZDEX
